Bills? Jets? Giants? Map Shows Which Team The Southern Tier Loves Most [GALLERY]
And the debate goes on. What Southern Tier county favors what NFL team the most?
The SeatGeek website has a map that shows what NFL team is the fan favorite in every county in the United States. It's interesting to say the least. I was surprised to find that Broome County is shown to be more of a Buffalo Bills territory that New York Giants or Jets.
New York Jets become the dominate team from Delaware Country and points east, rather than the Giants. They fare much better around the Capitol Region, a few counties in the Adirondacks, a couple of counties in Connecticut, New Jersey and Monroe County in Pennsylvania. Even a couple counties in Vermont are listed as Giants country. Odd, since I'd think they would be devoted to the New England Patriots as the rest of the state is.
It's interesting to note that the NFL team with the most county loyalty belongs to the Dallas Cowboys, covering most of the state of Texas and much of Oklahoma. I guess given the size of Texas, that makes sense. Although many counties in the southeast of Texas is devoted to the Houston Texans.
It's a cool map to check out at SeatGeek, where you can click on each county to see what team is the favorite.
I grew up in Steuben and Schuyler counties in New York and both were mostly Buffalo Bills country.
When I moved to Broome County, I figured it would be a toss up between the New York Giants and the New York Jets, since the county is much closer to the New York and New Jersey areas than it is to Buffalo.
For many years, we aired New York Giants football and I observed many bars airing the Giants on their screens. It made sense, right? Well, maybe not so much.
