Do you feel like you're glowing with happiness after an enjoyable vacation?  It's the best feeling right?  And it turns out that your happiness will last a lot longer than it would if you bought something to promote happiness.

According to a study out of Cornell University, "vacation happiness" is much more lasting than when you shop and buy stuff to feel happiness.  Apparently the level of happiness at first is relatively the same, however, as time goes by, the happiness a person feels from a purchase quickly disappears.  That's not the case when people travel because the memories made from an enjoyable traveling experience leave you with feelings of happiness for a long time afterward.

You don't have to sell me on that concept!  I've always loved traveling but it does take discipline to save money for travel instead of spending it on stuff.  So, the next time you find yourself at a store and are contemplating a spontaneous purchase, think again and save up that money that you would have spent and put it toward a great vacation.
